Melantris is named after the stone melanterite which can come in an amazing spectrum of blue-green, and she is a lovely water dragon who enjoys surfing on a decent wave and racing with dolphins.
Crocheted by hand, each dragon is unique - no pattern used! I modify each dragon as I go to give them character, the end result is a bit of dragon magic - each has its own personality
Melantris is aprox 14” long and features dark green with iridescent blue dragonfly-ish wings. She also has a fishy tail and face-fins, very much a water creature!

So one of my best friends is a big fan of Glee and she was telling me about this episode where Brittany made Kurt a unicorn hat for his election campaign based on the fact he was a unicorn (forgive my vague paraphrasing, I’m sure I’ve got some of the finer details wrong lol) and it inspired me to make her a warm unicorn hat that was of the same look, as her Christmas present LOL
Crocheted by hand, made it up as I went (no pattern) and I had fun figuring out how to do the ears! Now I think I could do other hats with ears, fun! :D
Thanks to my friend Alanna for modeling the hat for me LOL It’s super fluffy and warm, and the horn stands up all nice. Doing the mane took a while, to knot in the “hairs” one by one ha ha
